Song of the Moment: Foals – “Cassius”

This song is off their album “Antidotes” and I’ve been playing it constantly on my itunes for a couple days now. I’ve always liked this song, but for some reason I can’t get enough of it right now. Check it out if you’ve never heard it:

I’ve listened to a bit of their new stuff. Not sure how I feel about it quite yet. It doesn’t have the punch behind it like the songs on “Antidotes” do. At least not the songs I heard.

You Need To Know: Good & Broken

Good & Broken is the brain-child of Jared and Marissa. I’ve been following these kids for a couple years now. They used to solely post great covers on their youtube channel then eventually they began to put their own music out there. If you are Canadian, maybe you’ve seen them on the TV show, disBAND where they showcased their song “My Mistakes”.

They make good, fun, pop/rock music and quite honestly I think Marissa has the strongest female vocals I’ve heard since Hayley Williams of Paramore.

So check out Good & Broken’s video for “Secrets” after the jump! What’s cool about this song is that the lyrics are taken from other songs on their Secrets EP and put together to create the song “Secrets”.

You Need To Know: Josiah Leming

Josiah Leming is a singer-songwiter who turned 21 not too long ago. Despite his youth, he is an incredibly gifted songwriter. When I think of amazing present-day lyricists, Josiah is one who comes to mind and yet a lot of people have the misfortune of not even knowing who this guy is. Blasphemy, I say!

So I have 2 of my favorite songs by Josiah after the jump, as well as a live acoustic performance of his song “Appalachia”. Josiah’s debut album, “Come On Kid” will be on shelves July 13th. If you dig what you hear, please, please pick up a copy and support this kid.

Album of the Moment: Secret & Whisper – Teenage Fantasy

I stumbled onto this album by chance, and it’s good stuff. They get a lot of comparisons to Saosin. Personally, I’ve never been able to get into Saosin, but I can see why they get compared. The singers both have a similar sort of shrill, high voice.

Check out my favorite song from the album, “Warrior (Southern Arrowwood)” after the jump!
